OUR JOURNEY SO FAR

Harris Scarfe’s story began in 1849 in South Australia when George Peter Harris and John C. Lanyon opened a small wholesale ironmongery called Lanyon & Harris.

Their first warehouse opened in Hindley Street, Adelaide in 1850.

In 1857, George Scarfe and Richard Smith joined as partners – forming Geo. P. Harris Scarfe & Co. The business continued to grow, moving into Grenfell Street in 1877, and officially becoming Harris Scarfe in 1920.

Today, we’re still proudly Australian, still committed to helping customers, and still evolving to meet the needs of modern life.
